re: — the reply's form

Six directives steer the reply's form. Two are Level 1 (voice, show) — the core every conforming agent honors; the other four are Level 2.

Essence: FORMAT Silent verb: “make your reply …” 6 directives

Directive Shorthand 3.2 · Command Explorer · The domain page carries the rules; each directive page below carries the detail.

The re: directives re:voice — Reply with a voice note (spoken audio).re:show — Answer visually instead of in prose.re:recap — Catch me up: state, decisions, what's open.re:steps — A numbered procedure, one action per step.re:list — Present the material as an enumerated set — items on their own lines, each one complete; the form for a set, where steps is the form for a sequence.re:cite — Show this reply's sources, inline with its claims.

What this domain governs

The form of the reply as an artifact: what channel it travels in, what shape it takes, and whether its evidence shows. What it does not govern: how much work goes in or how long it runs (that is scale:), the voice it speaks in (style:), the state behind it (mem:), or when work happens (sch:).

Every token in this domain completes the same silent instruction — make your reply … — written in the specification, never typed by the user. The prefix names the thing the phrase governs; the name after the colon qualifies it.

The domain's rules

  • Axes: Channel (voice, show) · Structure (recap, steps, list) · Provenance (cite). Stacking composes across axes — re:voice/steps is a voice note that walks through it; within one axis, the last mention wins (steps and list share Structure: sequence vs set). Stacks never change persisted state.

The directives

TokenAxisShortestLevelMeaning
re:voiceChannelvo1Reply with a voice note (spoken audio). A short text label may accompany the audio where the platform needs one; the substance is spoken. 'on' = voice replies until cleared; 'off' = back to text (the 'off' reply is text).
re:showChannelsh1Answer visually instead of in prose; the agent picks the medium that fits — diagram (how it works), chart (numbers), map (places), generated image (seeing a thing). Minimal labeling text may accompany; an essay with a picture attached is a failed re:show.
re:recapStructurerec2Catch me up: where we are on this topic or conversation — state, decisions, what's open.
re:stepsStructurest2A numbered procedure, no essay: the how-to shape, one action per step.
re:listStructureli2Present the material as an enumerated set — items on their own lines, each one complete; the form for a set, where steps is the form for a sequence.
re:citeEvidenceci2Show this reply's sources: the claims in the answer carry their citations inline, so the evidence the answer rests on is visible in the reply itself. Cite displays sources; it does not itself perform verification — rigor in the work is the request's business, stated in prose.

Each directive page carries the detail: fired examples (typed, reply-targeted, and spoken), what the agent actually does under the hood, the honest fallback when a host lacks the capability, and the conformance test the directive must pass.
